Flower Care

A little everyday care

Cut flowers

  • Use a freshly cleaned vase.
  • Keep foliage below the waterline out of the water.
  • Refresh the cut ends of stems before putting them into water.
  • Use commercial flower food according to its packet directions.
  • Check the water level daily and change water regularly, especially if cloudy.
  • Choose a cool spot away from heat and drafts.

Plants and orchids

Care depends on the plant species and growing medium. Product-specific instructions will be reviewed with Nicole; do not treat cut-flower care as a plant-watering schedule.

Flowers and pets

True lilies and daylilies are especially dangerous to cats. Do not bring them into a home with cats. For suspected exposure, contact a veterinarian promptly. See FDA guidance on lilies and cats.
